We are already two weeks into spring. The yellow flowers, like forsythia and daffodils, have been blooming, as well as the smelly Bradford Pear trees that some unwitting homeowners decided to plant all over our neighborhood in its early years. Be glad if you’ve never smelled them in their full fishy bloom. We copied our neighbors and made the same mistake back in the beginning, but they have such a poor root structure, our trees have long been cut back before they toppled onto our lawn, the street, or anything else within range.
With all of this spring goodness around me, my energy has been coming in waves. There have been highly productive energy days and others where it was impossible to find enough energy to do more than wake up and eat a few meals. Perhaps I exaggerate a little, but I have big goals and it frustrates me on days when they can’t be accomplished.
I decided to pull an oracle card to see what to expect from this weekend’s energy. I pulled from one of my favorite oracle decks, the Hedgewitch’s Field Guide. And this is the card I pulled:
This is the Juniper Plant, a plant that produces berries that have very common culinary and medicinal properties. I will just say that in my youth, I knew the flavor well, as gin and tonics were among my favorite cocktails. In fact, after one too many cocktails one night, I swore off the juniper flavor for quite a few years. Ah, youth. If you are a fan of wild game, you’ve probably used the berries as a spice when cooking.
The essential oil of this plant is considered to be very invigorating. After a year of living in the pandemic blur, I can benefit from the wake up call this plant promises. It’s springtime, the earth is awakening, and so are its people after this long period of quiet isolation known as pandemic quarantine. As more people have become vaccinated, I’m sensing the tentative beginnings of plans being made for the forthcoming year. I hope the energy to pursue our passions with much more passion and vigor than was possible over the past year will also be in the cards. At least this card promises that!
