No Coincidences

Easter Basket Sent to My Parents

Do you believe in coincidences or do you believe there’s a reason for unrelated events that seem like there’s a connection anyway? As you might guess from the title of this post, I don’t believe in coincidences. I think there’s a reason for everything and that everything is connected. That there are ripple effects for every action we take. And not just that, I believe there are spiritual forces at work in our lives.

A perfect example are connected actions that my mom and I took last week, despite the fact that we live 100 miles and a pandemic apart. To celebrate the Easter holiday when we wouldn’t be seeing my parents, we sent the above basket of flowers which arrived at their home on Saturday. Unknown to me, my mom had prayed to St. Theresa the day before asking for a rose to signify her prayers had been heard. This is such a common request for St. Theresa. I grew up with all of my aunts praying the novena to St. Theresa, probably because that was the saint for our neighborhood parish. I can only imagine this poor saint toiling regularly in her heavenly garden to send all the roses that are requested. Just kidding. Maybe.

The flower gift basket arrived on Saturday. The basket I ordered had more springtime flowers and fewer roses than you see in the photo above. But roses were requested and the flower composition was altered to emphasize roses. The florist and I were used to deliver the message that my mom had requested. She was positive, and I agree, that this was not a coincidence.
